Magic Cube Kaleidoscopes from Japan

My team of trained volunteers and I would like to make some kaleidoscopes with the recent immigrant families and other children in the MetroWest /Boston area of MA. We can work with about 15-20 people at a time. The project takes 1.5-2.0 hours and is totally FREE of charge. All materials are provided and are child safe!

Takaaki Sonoda and his colleagues in Fukuoka, Japan started the workshops of UAP                                    (Universal Art Project) Owl Association in 2003.

They organized the Universal Magic Cube workshops at various community centers such as schools, universities, museums, and science/art festivals to facilitate local and global human exchange activities; especially for disabled peoples under severe life conditions such as children in hospitals, immigration, and refugee camps. Their motto is “All children have the right to play.”  (part of the United Nations Mission Statement, as well.)

The projects of UAP Owl Association are based on an idea of universal art for any persons irrespective of their age, disability, nationality, and cultural differences. The workshops have been held in countries throughout Asia, Europe, and the USA to make more than 40,000 cubes with peoples aged from one year to 101 years!

So far, we’ve made them with Ukrainian immigrants in Berlin, Germany, Japanese children in NJ, Venezuelan immigrants in Framingham, MA and all children ages 6-adults. We are arranging classes in after-school programs and assisted living facilities. We can coordinate program with STEM activities and can provide classes on weekends.
